Kuehne+Nagel is the global leader in ocean freight and logistics. The group is committed to connecting people and goods through innovative, sustainable solutions tailored to every need.
This ambition is driven by its Vision 2030: to become the trusted partner in the supply chain, committed to a sustainable future. As part of this journey, the Employee Experience is a priority, with a focus on strengthening leadership, skills, and team motivation.
In Italy, this ambition takes on a very concrete managerial dimension. The goal is to support people managers who, as they grow in their roles, must learn to achieve results not only through their own work but also through the work of others.
The challenge: to provide people managers with practical tools to adopt these new behaviors.
To support the development and growth of its People Managers, Kuehne+Nagel Italy has chosen Simundia’s individual coaching program. Each participant follows a Situational Coaching® program consisting of three one-hour individual sessions with a certified coach from the Simundia network, selected based on their specific needs. The program addresses Kuehne+Nagel’s priorities: strengthening engagement and a sense of belonging, supporting personal and professional development, and creating the conditions for sustainable well-being at work.
The program's rollout is supported by quarterly monitoring and an HR dashboard that continuously tracks the program's adoption and impact.
99% of participants feel more effective and 94% feel more motivated after completing their coaching. These metrics confirm that the program has helped develop leadership maturity. The average rating participants gave to the situation addressed in coaching increased by 34%.
Following their coaching, managers made concrete changes to their management practices: - 65% now set clear goals for themselves and their teams. - 55% engage in more constructive conversations to improve communication within the team. - 55% report practicing more active listening and rephrasing more effectively. - 45% delegate more. - 35% have established regular check-ins and provide more feedback.
In light of these results, the partnership was renewed, with the goal of making coaching a sustainable pillar of leadership development at Kuehne+Nagel Italy. “The main return on investment from coaching is talent retention. Employees who feel valued and supported advance in their careers and improve their performance, which naturally generates a return for the company.” Ruggero Poli, Managing Director, Italy

Individual coaching has a collective impact: the people who go through it change, and those around them notice. When a participant has a positive experience, they naturally share it with their colleagues and managers.

A coach isn't someone who tells you which direction to take or what to do. Instead, they stand by your side and help you find the tools you need to see issues and the organization from a different perspective.
